KTM has breathed new life into the adventure biking segment with the reinvigorated KTM 790 ADVENTURE for 2024. This iconic motorcycle, known for its potent blend of torque, agile handling, and unmatched versatility, has been refreshed for the new year.
In 2018, the KTM 790 ADVENTURE set the benchmark for thrilling performance and empowerment. Redefining mid-weight motorcycle travel, KTM created a niche that riders could confidently navigate on both tarmac and trails, equipped with the specifications to conquer diverse conditions and landscapes.
For 2024, the KTM 790 ADVENTURE underwent redesign and refinement in Mattighofen, Austria, responding to the demand for an enhanced 'first taste' for adventure enthusiasts. The original twin-cylinder LC8c engine was celebrated for its torque, responsiveness, and unique feeling of inertia. In its comeback, KTM aimed for even greater 'rideability' from the LC8c, meeting the criteria for new emission standards.
The 2024 KTM 790 ADVENTURE now boasts increased stability at constant speeds and enhanced cornering poise, courtesy of a 20% increase in rotating mass. This alteration doesn't compromise the motorcycle's highly acclaimed agility. Upgraded throttle bodies ensure a cleaner and more efficient connection, and the 'knock control' sensor allows for higher ignition precision and improved capacity for low octane fuel, crucial for varying fuel qualities encountered during travels. The reconfigured Quickshifter+ enables faster shifting, complemented by the latest exhaust system featuring a 2024 catalytic converter and pre-muffler.
Dependability is heightened with the reworked Power Assist Slipper Clutch, new friction plates, and improved airbox for enhanced engine breathability. The addition of the latest 6D sensor, also found in larger KTM siblings, informs advanced features like Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control, ABS, Motor Slip Regulation, and Ride Modes.
The 2024 KTM 790 ADVENTURE maintains its excellent handling with a 43 mm WP APEX Suspension fork offering 200 mm travel and a shock with preload adjustability. The CroMo frame construction, utilizing the engine as a stressed member, ensures a robust and stiff structure, providing stability for both the rider and cargo, with clever positioning of the rear shock for a low seat height (33 in/840 mm).
With a 5.3-gallon (20-liter) tank and generous fuel economy, the 2024 KTM 790 ADVENTURE expands the horizons for even the most avid adventure riders. The two-piece saddle, designed for all-day comfort, can be swapped and upgraded through KTM's PowerParts assortment for single or heated units.
The tank's design follows the bike's flow, and the new front mask integrates a robust fairing. This section allows for prime contact and the sensation of centralization that riders appreciate while being toughened to accommodate mounts for GPS devices if needed. A larger, higher screen provides improved wind protection. The full LED lights and the brighter 5” TFT dashboard, responsive to ambient lighting, feature a redesigned menu system with new infographics for faster and easier customization. Syncing with the KTMconnect App enhances navigational and travel options, offering features like 'top 10' calls and contacts profiling and on-the-go adjustments of turn-by-turn guidance.
As with its predecessor, the 2024 edition enjoys an extensive range of KTM PowerParts, offering components for protection or aesthetic enhancements. The aluminum engine protector comes standard, eliminating the need for additional defense against hits and dents to the front of the bike. Reshaped plastics, injected molded with graphics for added resistance, protect the tank and seat from unwanted knocks.
And not to forget the distinctive KTM ADVENTURE looks – the 2024 KTM 790 ADVENTURE arrives in two dynamic and eye-catching colorways to mark its triumphant return.
